Many businesses still fail to comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005  and as the news section shows Fire & Rescue Services are becoming more proactive in dealing with breaches of the legislation and are resorting to the Law to impress upon businesses the seriousness of not complying with the Fire Safety Order.

In a recent survey Norwich Union Risk Services (now part of Aviva and called Aviva Risk Management Solutions) have shown that nearly 40% of small businesses have not completed a fire risk assessment.

Our own work supports this and we are constantly finding that businesses are often reliant on individuals who have an interest but no skills and once they leave the commitment slows or stops.

Do you comply with the requirements of the Order? Don't wait to get the knock on the door that could lead to prosecution, a hefty fine and could put you out of business.

Have a look through our site and give us a call to discuss how we may be able to help?

Hefty fines imposed for failing to comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

A London Nursing Home was fined £200,000 with £30,000 costs for failing to have a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment and for not having appropriate procedures for serious and imminent danger. A London Fire Brigade spokesman said "This prosecution comes as a timely reminder of the importance of having both a suitable and sufficient Fire Risk Assessment and an Emergency Plan"

Norwich Magistrates Court imposed a £10,250 fine against a city landlord for breaching fire safety laws.

The owner of a Blackpool hotel was convicted of six breaches of fire safety regulations and ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £9,000.

Following a blaze which saw 125 people evacuated and a further two rescued by aerial ladder, the Loretta Hotel in Llandudno was fined £12,000 plus £6,500 costs, for fire safety breaches.

A Colchester Restaurateur has recently been fined £10,000 and ordered to pay £15,000 in costs in a prosecution brought by Essex Fire Authority.
